Peritoneal dialysis vs. Hemodialysis
Investigators have issued conflicting reports on the risk of death for peritoneal dialysis (CAPD/CCPD) and hemodialysis patients. One study done on U.S patients reported that peritoneal dialysis is associated with a higher risk of death than hemodialysis, while another study reports exactly the opposite conclusion. We analyzed data from 1994–1996, and found that, for most patients, the survival rates for peritoneal dialysis patients are comparable to or better than those for hemodialysis patients.
